Is the 38 Special probably the best to build as a solo for a big guy? I am 6'5 and 285... any thoughts?

As you know the 38 special is what I built, because I am a big guy. I am extremely happy with the performance of it. It is 16-1/2 feet & only 39 lbs & is the fastest canoe I have ever paddled. There are other canoe designs out there that would work well for a big guy, but I have never paddled or built them so I can't compare.
