I emailed northwest canoe and asked them a question about my size and the 38 special. They said the canoe would be fine for me, however if I wanted to carry a weeks worth of gear or other things I might consider taking the plans and increasing them another 4% and spacing the stations at 12.5 to make the canoe 16.5 ft long. So if I build it that size... is it now a "78 Special" or do I just have a 38 special that is 16.5 ft long and 4% bigger?? ;-)
